After a whirlwind of a fall I’m clearing out drafts, organizing my bookshelf and posting what I read in the past four months.
- Responsive Web Design by Ethan Marcotte
- The Burn Farm by Michael Benson
- Anything You Want by Derek Sivers
- Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely
- Justice is Served by Robert K. Ressler and Tom Shachtman
- The Elements of Content Strategy by Erin Kissane
Responsive Web Design became a very talked subject last year. Ethan’s book was fun to read, informative and it sparked my already existing interest in the subject matter. Ethan has a way with words. Recommended.
The Burn Farm was one of those books that didn’t seem to hold my interest. It just seemed to go on and on. Or maybe it was just when and how I read it.
Anything You Want was easily one of my favorite books in 2011. I’ve admired and respected Derek Sivers for a good while already and was excited to read this book. It didn’t let me down. What it did was pump me full of motivation to keep on making a better life for myself. He’s such an awesome man!
Dan Ariely’s Predictably Irrational was also one of the better books I read in 2011. So many interesting stories about how we human beings act and why. I don’t have much to say about this book other than I can recommend it to everybody who has an interest in the way we all work. Must buy his other book soon.
No big surprise that I like Robert Ressler and the way he writes. Justice is Served was an interesting read of a rather old case, but it did prove that good police work is worth the effort, no matter how long it takes to capture the offender. It also goes to show that even a judge can fail miserably in having his wife killed.
Finally Erin Kissane’s The Elements of Content Strategy. Maybe it was just when I read this, but somehow I felt it didn’t offer what I expected it to. Must go back and read this again at a later time.
